Breakfast at McAuley Glen is served in the sunny dining room which overlooks the garden. Its a relaxed atmosphere where you can often meet with other guests and share a story or two.

Your Gourmet feast may include such tempting delights as: home made blueberry muffins with rhubarb and honey, buttermilk banana pancakes with maple syrup and wild berries, freshly prepared juices or fruit smoothies. Home made cereal, yoghurts and fresh fruit platters, are laid out for your selection.

A cooked choice follows, treat yourself to the farm house fillers made from free range eggs, local and organic meats (when available) or tuck in to the gourmet pastries, cheeses and pies, not to forget Mary’s oven fresh bread, home made jams, marmalade and Manuka honey.

Freshly ground coffee, fine teas, including herb and fruit, compliment, what surely must be a very hearty breakfast and a great start to your day.

Escape to the Garden for Relaxation and Tranquillity

Take the pathway down to the bottom of the garden. Flanked by trees and shrubs, ivy covered and rising up above the creek, you will find the Oamaru Stone fire place. This is a an enchanting part of the garden, a tranquil place to cosy up and watch the flames. The fireplace can also be used to cook in, so have a relaxing drink and a chat while the steaks are grilling over glowing coals.

To arrange for your evening or day time fire side gathering, discuss your requirements with Mary and Pat.

A gas BBQ is also available if you wish to cook out closer to your room or in another part of the garden.

Soak in the Jacuzzi Hot Tub or melt in the Sauna House

Hidden from view at at top of the garden is the Jucuzzi Hot Tub.  Sunk into a timber deck, close to the gabezo, the Hot Tub is  set amongst trees and lush garden, protected  by shelter walls covered in climbing roses, jasmine and clematis.   Stretching out in the Hot Tub can be very therapeutic, a great way to relax  after a busy day, and its simply magical at night under the stars.  Bathed in soft candle lighting you can enjoy a glass of wine and let the world go by.

If having a melt down in the Sauna House is more your way of unwinding, you are welcome to take a towel, some bottled water and soak up the heat the little cedar room turns on.  Constructed in a rustic style, using timber and tiles the Sauna House also incorporates a shower area for cooling off purposes.

As your enjoyment and privacy is important to us, we are happy to oblige with exclusivity, and whilst some prior notice is required for use of the Jacuzzi Hot Tub, a definite booking time is required for use of the Sauna House.  Both the Hot Tub and the Sauna have a limited time use of 1 hour.

Exploring the magical gardens at McAuley Glen Boutique B&B, you can arrive at various locations, or private rooms (as Mary likes to call them) in which to sit and relax, read, write or enjoy some refreshments

The Pergolas
An Idyllic spot, most suitable for intimate garden parties and special occasions.  From the main court yard at McAuley Glen, take the steps under the rose covered pergola to a circular bricked area which is bordered with Wisteria and yet another rose covered pergola.  Enclosed with honey suckle hedging, this very fragrant part of the garden has shelter, shade and sunshine, it is also furnished with bench seating, a wooden table and chairs.

The Gabezo
Getting the last of the sun, this little room outdoors, has its own front lawn with views over the garden. Situated next to the Hot Tub and fitted with seating and soft lighting, the Gabezo is at any time here at McAuley Glen, a perfect place for relaxing or sharing a romantic moment.

The Swing Seat
For pure tranquillity and quiet contemplation at McAuley Glen Boutique B&B, find the wooden swing seat nestled in the lush,lower garden area.  Along a secluded bush path, blooming with a feast of colour the sun sneaks in while birds, bees and butterflies abound. Here in this little sanctuary, hidden under the Magnolia and Cherry Blossom trees, you can let your senses gently flow, feeling the peacefulness of being in harmony with nature.
