Mary and Patrick have a keen sense of adventure, they have traveled widely, participate in a variety of outdoor pursuits, such as: landscaping, gardening, trekking, kayaking and biking. Both share a love of sports, nature, wholesome foods, books, music, theater and art. They enjoy a relaxed atmosphere, spiked with perky humor and interesting conversation.
Born in Dunedin, having traveled and lived in various parts of New Zealand , Mary chose to raise her family in Portobello. In the past she has worked as an Interior Designer, Business Owner and Caregiver. Operating the Bed & Breakfast and developing their extensive garden is now her priority and main objective.
Patrick, originally from Wellington, served with the NZ Police Force for 28 years working in Southland and Central Otago districts. He formed a tour business called Peninisula Bike and Kayak with Mary, they then went on to develop their Portobello home into a Bed and Breakfast. Patrick now uses his talented skills as a self-employed building contractor.
Together, Mary and Patrick have a combined 58 years living on the Otago Peninsula,they have been hosting the Bed & Breakfast for the last 16 years and welcome the opportunity to share their experiences and knowledge of the area. As there are many attractions and activities as well as dining experiences to choose from on the Peninsula/ Dunedin City they are happy to provide information, give suggestions and make the appropriate bookings for you.
